What It’s Like to Work With Me on Your Wedding Day
One of the biggest things couples tell me before booking is, “We’re not really comfortable in front of the camera.”
My goal as your wedding photographer is not just to take beautiful photos, it’s to make your entire experience feel natural, calm, and truly enjoyable from start to finish. I want you to actually live your wedding day. This is also a good reason to consider an engagement shoot before the wedding day.
Here’s what it’s really like to work with me on your wedding day.
⸻
Before Your Wedding Day
From the time you inquire with me, I am here to help with any questions you may have. This could be anything from:
Choosing the right photography coverage for your timeline
Building a stress-free wedding day timeline
Planning portrait locations and lighting
Helping with posing if you feel awkward infant of the camera
Recommendations on engagement shoot locations or outfits
I tell my clients to let me know anytime they need something before the wedding, if it's something I have the answer to, I will help in anyway I can. So by the time your wedding gets here, (which honestly, it goes by SO fast) I can help you both feel more comfortable and stress-free for when the wedding day comes.
⸻
On Your Wedding Morning
When I arrive, I always like to capture the details first. Your dress, rings, invitations, that kind of thing. For me, it helps get the creative juices flowing for the rest of the wedding day. Depending on the coverage you chose, after I do details, I like to capture everyone hanging out in the getting ready room, when you have moments of your bridal party hyping you up with music, the emotional moments with your friends and family members before you say "I Do." This is where the energy of the day really starts to build. You will find me trying to blend in the background, capturing all these moments so your morning/afternoon before you walk down the aisle, feels calm and fun.
⸻
Portraits
This is where a lot of couples start to relax. Especially if you choose to do a first look or a first touch. I notice nerves and stress immediately fade away once you see your partner, or even share a quiet moment together doing private vows or a first touch.
During this part of the timeline, I like to start off with a couple of posed photos. We call this the "Facebook Profile Pictures" or the "Happy Birthday Posts" or even the "Pictures for Your Grandparents to Hang on the Fridge." Once we get through those, I like to focus on movement, and more candid photos so the real emotion and connection comes out so those photos will feel like you.
During the movement and candid part of photos, I’ll prompt you in a way that keeps things natural. Like walking, laughing, talking to each other, and just being present.
⸻
During Your Ceremony
During your ceremony, I’m fully focused on storytelling.
I capture:
Your walk down the aisle
Your partner’s reaction
Emotional guests
The little in-between moments you may miss in real time
⸻
Reception Coverage
Once the ceremony is over, this is where all the real fun begins.
I document:
Your first dances
Toasts and speeches
Candids of your guests celebrating
The dance floor moments you’ll want to relive forever
All the real, unplanned joy of the night
This is where your story comes alive in a completely different way.
⸻
How I Photograph Your Day
My style is a mix of:
Documentary storytelling
Candid, real moments
Gentle guidance when needed
Emotional connection over perfection
I’m not just looking for posed smiles, I’m looking for the in-between moments that actually feel like your wedding day.
⸻
What You Can Expect From Me
When you work with me, you can expect:
A calm, grounded presence on your wedding day
Clear communication before and during your wedding
Guidance through all the photos
A photographer who cares just as much about your experience as your photos
A gallery that feels real, emotional, and timeless
Being ok with being the "bad guy" if someone is stressing you out
⸻
Your wedding day is not about perfect posing or staged moments, it’s about the feeling of the day itself. I give 100% on wedding days to make sure you have photos you love and will forever cherish having to look back on.
My job is to preserve that feeling for you so you can look back and remember exactly how it all felt, not just how it looked. I genuinely love being able to be apart of your day, and capturing all of these unforgettable, priceless memories for you.
